We are a community supporting straight razors and wet shaving. This is a relatively low volume, but hopefully instructive and helpful group. We are interested in promoting the enjoyable and relaxing experience of the straight razor shave. We believe that the techniques involved with the maintenance and use of straight razors are neither high-art, nor esoteric science, but rather easily grasped fundamentals that require only practice and patience to master.

Monday Night Chats

Join us for our Monday Night Chats. Yes they are still happening every week, generally starting around 9PM EST and we're usually done by 11PM or so. Just follow one of the Chat links to join. We prefer using the top chat window, but if it won't work, try the bottom one. If your browser warns you about accepting the connection, there's really no way around that as the chat uses "unsigned" Java code.

We've added a Buy, Sell, & Trade Forum for members to use. The Auction never really went over that well and this format will probably be easier for most to use.

Site Upgrade

You may notice that the site has changed. I've been putting off a much needed upgrade for entirely too long. Unfortunately the previous software version reached the end of it's life cycle. It's successor broke compatibility with the previous version, the tweaks & modifications were no longer usable. If I have to start from scratch, I've decided to go with a more mainstream solution, phpBB.

This will be a work in progress for awhile, but I was able to carry the members, posts, and most information from the previous site. The biggest problem was an inability to translate the passwords from the old site to the new site. All the accounts are still here, but all users will have to reset their passwords on their first login. It's a relatively simple operation, just follow the I forgot my password link on the Login page and a new password will be emailed to the address you registered with. If you run into problems, say for example the email account you registered with is no longer active, email me: matt at straightshaving dot com and I'll help straighten it out. User avatars and attachmentswere also lost in the transition, feel free to re-upload them if desired.

There are also a few new features available, the most requested one being the ability to subscribe to specific sub-forums and be notified by email of any new posts. We hope you enjoy your stay.
